The Mt. Pleasant High School softball team opened up the Southeast Conference season at Keokuk last night with a split. The Chiefs beat the Panthers 10-3 in the opener, Panthers had 11 hits but just couldn’t get the runners around. M.P. beat the Chiefs 10-2 in the nightcap behind a 5 hitter by Shelby Allender, Panthers had 13 hits. MPHS is now 3-4 overall and 1-1 in the league and will host Ft. Madison Thursday. KILJ-FM and kilj.com will carry the 1st game of that double header live at 5:30.
OTHER SOFTBALL SCORES: Mediapolis 2 Wapello 0 – Mediapolis pitcher Allison Klenk struck out 11 for Wapello, Abby Eberhardt pitched the win for Mepo. New London 20 Harmony 0 – Morgan Christner threw a no hitter and was 3 for 3 at the plate. Winfield Mt. Union 5 Iowa Mennonite 4 – Karlie Wade had 2 RBI’s.
Mt. Pleasant and Keokuk split a conference double header in Keokuk last night, Keokuk won the opener with a 2-0 score, Brady Anderson pitched for the Panthers. Mt. Pleasant won 14-4 in the 2nd game with Marcus Moothart getting the win on the mound. Pat Canby was 3-3 with 2 doubles and 2 RBI’s.
OTHER BASEBALL SCORES: WMU 4 IMS 1 – Kolt Rossiter got the win on the mound. Danville 11 Holy Trinity 0 – Hunter Peebler struck out 15, New London 11 Harmony 0 – Reno Chiri threw a 3 hitter and struck out 9. Mediapolis 10 Wapello 0 – Kelton Gourley struck out 10 and allowed just 2 hits. Van Buren 4 Notre Dame 2 – Will Mertens threw the win and Warriors are now 4-0. West Burlington 8 Central Lee 5 – 12 hits for the Falcons.
Mt. Pleasant won their first round girls Regional Soccer tournament game Friday night at home against Ft. Madison 1-0, the Panthers advance onto the Regional Semi Finals tonight on the road at North Scott who had a first round bye.
New London is tied for 2nd place in the Class 1A girls State Golf Championship standings after the 1st 18 holes played over the Ames Country Club with a 370 total, Nashua Plainfield also shot 370. Grundy Center is the leader with a 367. Jorgi Krieger is tied for 3rd in the medalist play with an 86. Leader is Sarah McMichael of Nashua Plainfield with a 72. Grace Edwards of Winfield Mt. Union is tied for 10th in medal play shooting a 1st round 91. The final 18 holes will be played today. Washington leads the Class 4A State Golf Tournament with a 351 shot on the American Legion Course in Marshalltown. Sarah Nacos leads the medal play with a 67. Fairfield is in 4th place with a 383 score
The Danville-New London boys soccer team has qualified for the State Soccer Tournament, they will play in the 1st round of the State Tournament on Thursday at noon on field #9 at Cownie Soccer Complex in Des Moines against Dyersville Beckman who is undefeated at 15-0 and seeded #1. The Bears are seeded #8 and have a record of 15-1.

This summer, Iowa Wesleyan will host a variety of camps for volleyball. The scheduled camps include junior high skills camp, high school skills camp, setter camp, speed/agility/strength camp, Tiger Cub camp, middles camp, outsides camp, and a libero camp. On Saturday, June 13, the 2nd Alumni Football Game between Mt. Pleasant and Washington High School Alumni will be held on Evans Field at Mapleleaf Athletic Complex to benefit University of Iowa Children’s Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa.
The event is organized by Alumni Football USA, and will consist of a full contact football game, as well as various fundraising activities. The majority of event fundraising
comes from the presale of tickets, which are available at Browns Shoe Fit,

Mt. Pleasant Panther 2015 boy’s Summer Basketball Camp registration is open for elementary thru high school boys. The 1st 1 week camp will be held June 22nd thru June 25th and week 2 will be July 13th thru 16th. Elementary camp is for 3rd thru 5th graders. Middle School camp for 6th thru 8th and High School camp is for 9th thru 12th graders. Camps will be conducted by Coach Paul Rundquist, and his staff.
