Class 2A 12th ranked Wapello hosted Mt. Pleasant in softball Wednesday night and handed the visitors a 7-4 loss.  Bailey Johnson suffered the loss in the circle, Shelby Allender was 2-4 with a RBI at the plate.  M.P. has a record of 10-8 and hosts Keokuk tonight in Southeast Conference play.

AREA SOFTBALL SCORES: Mediapolis 3 Pekin 2-Monica Edle it a home run for the Bullettes.   #15 West Burlington-Notre Dame 9 Danville 7, Central Lee 7 Lone tree 5, Central City 13 WMU 4-Maci Richardson and Sam Jamison each had 2 hits for hits for the 2-13 Lady Wolves.  Cedar Rapids Xavier swept Burlington 5-0 and 8-4.

AREA BASEBALL SCORES:  Mediapolis 13 Pekin 2-Mepo turned a triple play.  Burlington won twice over Centerville 14-2 and 13-2.


ON THE LOCAL SPORTS SCENE:   THURSDAY:  MPHS JV softball at baseball at Muscatine 10 a.m.  Keokuk at MPHS varsity softball and baseball 5:30 p.m.  1st baseball game will be on KILJ-FM 105.5 and live.  FRIDAY:  MPHS JV softball and baseball at Keokuk 5:30 p.m.  SATURDAY:  MPHS baseball at Williamsburg Tournament vs Pella and host school.


During the 4th of July holiday weekend there is two golf tournaments to play in at the Mt. Pleasant Golf and Country Club.  On the morning of July 5th there is a 2 person Ryder Cup format tourney at 8 a.m.  6 holes of best shot, 6 holes of best ball and 6 holes of alternate shot, cost is $50 per team and open to the public.  In the afternoon on July 5th at 2 p.m. there is a 4 couple alternating best shot tournament.  Entry fee is $80 per team and it’s open to the public.

Mt. Pleasant Panther 2015 boy’s Summer Basketball Camp registration is open for elementary thru high school boys.  The 1st 1 week camp will be held June 22nd thru June 25th and week 2 will be July 13th thru 16th.  Elementary camp is for 3rd thru 5th graders.  Middle School camp for 6th thru 8th and High School camp is for 9th thru 12th graders.  Camps will be conducted by Coach Paul Rundquist, and his staff.  If you have questions contact coach Rundquist for more details.
