The MPHS girl’s softball team won 1 game and lost two in the L&M tournament Saturday.  M.P. beat West Burlington Notre Dame 7-4.  Then lost to Durant Bennett 8-0 and to Wilton 4-3.

Friday night M.P. lost to #9 ranked Class 5A Ottumwa 9-8.  Tonight the Panther varsity travels to Keokuk to play at conference double header.

 

Mt. Pleasant won their first round girls Regional Soccer tournament game Friday night at home against Ft. Madison 1-0, the Panthers advance onto the Regional Semi Finals Tuesday night on the road at North Scott who had a first round bye.

 

Congratulations to Kaleb Hagge freshman golfer at Winfield Mt. Union foe being medalist winner at the Class 1A State Golf Tournament in Marshalltown.  Kaleb shot 74 on Friday and came back with a 71 on Saturday for a 145 total.  New London boys finished 3rd in the team standings with a 640 score, Garrigan Catholic of Algona defended their state title with a 604, East Buchanan shot 624 for 2nd,  Tristan Kadel of New London finished 6th in medal play shooting a 150 over the two days.

 

The New London Tigers girls golf team advanced onto the State Meet today and tomorrow at the Ames Country Club.  Winfield Mt. Union did get one player through to state for medalist play, Grace Edwards.  New London will have Emma Pry, Jorgi Krieger and Paetyn Prottsman   involved in medalist competition.

 

The Danville-New London boys soccer team has qualified for the State Soccer Tournament, they won the substate final Saturday 5-0 over Columbus Community at West point.  Danville-New London will play in the 1st round of the State Tournament on Thursday at noon on field #9 at Cownie Soccer Complex in Des Moines against Dyersville Beckman who is undefeated at 15-0 and seeded #1.  The Bears are seeded #8 and have a record of 15-1.

 

ON THE LOCAL SPORTS SCENE:   MONDAY:  MPHS varsity baseball @ Keokuk, M.P. freshman baseball hosts Muscatine, MPHS varsity softball at Keokuk, M.P. freshman softball hosts Muscatine.

 

 

This summer, Iowa Wesleyan will host a variety of camps for volleyball.  The scheduled camps include junior high skills camp, high school skills camp, setter camp, speed/agility/strength camp, Tiger Cub camp, middles camp, outsides camp, and a libero camp.  All camps are open to boys and girls and are located at Iowa Wesleyan College in Ruble Arena. On Saturday, June 13, the 2nd Alumni Football Game between Mt. Pleasant and Washington High School Alumni will be held on Evans Field at Mapleleaf Athletic Complex to benefit University of Iowa Children’s Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa.

The event is organized by Alumni Football USA, and will consist of a full contact  football game, as well as various fundraising activities. The majority of event fundraising

comes from the presale of tickets, which are available at Browns Shoe Fit,

Mt. Pleasant Panther 2015 boy’s Summer Basketball Camp registration is open for elementary thru high school boys.  The 1st 1 week camp will be held June 22nd thru June 25th and week 2 will be July 13th thru 16th.  Elementary camp is for 3rd thru 5th graders.  Middle School camp for 6th thru 8th and High School camp is for 9th thru 12th graders.  Camps will be conducted by Coach Paul Rundquist, and his staff.  If you have questions contact coach Rundquist for more details.
