8th ranked Fairfield handed the 9th ranked Mt. Pleasant Panthers a 5-2 loss in the 1st game of a Southeast Conference softball double header in Mt. Pleasant last night, M.P. bounced back to win the 2nd game 4-3.  Cali Liechty took the loss in the circle in the 1st game, Chi Glaha and Anni Liechty each had 2 hits.  In game two Bailey Johnson pitched the win, Sarah Moffett cracked a home run for the Panthers.  Mt. Pleasant is 25-9 overall and has a 10-4 conference record, they can wrap up the conference championship tonight when they travel to Washington to play the Demons in makeup games that were rained out last week.  A split would mean a tie for the title with Keokuk and a sweep means an outright championship.  Washington last night beat Central Lee 14-3.

9th ranked Fairfield defeated the MPHS baseball team 12-7 in 9 innings in the 1st game of a conference double header in Mt. Pleasant last night, Levi Parkevich, Colby Potts and Dalton Shull did the pitching.   Pat Canby was 3-4 and Cooper Huckabone had a homerun at the plate.  Panthers dropped the 2nd game 19-4, Pat Canby was 2-3 with 2 doubles and Cale Christner was the losing pitcher, was 2-2 at the plate with 2 RBI’s.  OTHER AREA BASEBALL SCORES:  Keokuk swept Ft. Madison 6-0 and 9-0, Mediapolis beat Burlington Notre Dame 7-6.  Clinton beat Burlington twice 4-1 and 11-6.  Highland blanked Wapello 5-0.  New London shut WMU 10-0.

Danville rolled over Waco 13-1 in 3 innings in the opening game of the Class 1A Regional Softball game at Danville.  Bears now play 6th ranked New London tonight in New London at 7 pm.  KILJ-FM 105.5 and kilj.com will carry the game live.  Other Regional scores:  Moravia won 3-2 over Twin Cedars and now Plays host to Cardinal of Eldon tonight who beat Moulton Udell  17-1.  IMS beat WMU 13-2 and will play at Calumus Wheatland tonight.  Sigourney  won over Keota 14-1 and will play host to Tri county tonight who beat Lone Tree 7-5.  CLASS 2A REGIONAL SCORES: Wapello beat Tipton 1-0 and Pekin beat Van Buren 10-6.  Tonight Wapello plays at Wilton and Pekin goes to Highland.  CLASS 3A REGIONAL GAMES:  Mediapolis at #2 Davenport Assumption, West Burlington-Notre Dame plays host to Central Lee.

The Holy Trinity Catholic Athletic Board Golf Outing is coming up July 22nd at the Sheaffer Memorial Golf Course rural Ft. Madison.  This is a 4 person best shot, with a 1 p.m. shotgun start.  Cost is $75 per golfer or $300 for a team of four.
