FROM THE IRIS BOWLING CENTER AND SPLITZ LOUNGE SPORTS DESK.

Despite a last ditch effort in the top half of the seventh inning, Harlan was able to hold on to defeat Bishop Heelan Catholic 8-6 Tuesday afternoon in a Class 3A first-round game at Principal Park.

The Cyclones now advance to the semi finals Friday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. to play eighth ranked Solon who defeated the top seeded Wahlert Catholic, Dubuque Golden Eagles, 12-2.

The Carlisle Wildcats were down 5-0 in the fifth, but they used two consecutive four-run innings to defeat the Central Dewitt Sabers 8-7 in the 1st game of the Tuesday evening session.

The Pella Little Dutch topped the Humboldt Wildcats, 6-0 in the nightcap of the Class 3A quarterfinals on Tuesday night at Principal Park. It was a pitcher’s duel for most of the game as the teams tallied just six hits apiece.  Carlisle and Pella meet in the semis at 11 a.m. Friday morning.
