Mt. Pleasant completed the sweep of the Keokuk Chiefs in High School baseball Friday night in Fairfield at the Class 3A District Semi-Final game.  The Panthers who are now 19-17 won over the chiefs for the 5th time this season with a 12-2 five inning win.  Keokuk got on the board 1st in the top of the 1st inning but then Mt. Pleasant took control and took care of business scoring 3 runs in the bottom of the 1st, 5 in the 2nd2 in the 3rd and finished the job with 2 in the 4th inning.  Keokuk out hit Mt. Pleasant 7 to 6, but fielding errors and walks by the Chiefs gave MPHS a lot of unearned base runners.  Levi Parkevich pitched the win for M.P. relieved by Colby Potts.  Pat Canby was 2 for 4 at the plate and had 2 RBI’s.

It’s now onto Monday night’s 7 p.m. District finals against 4th ranked Fairfield on their home field, Fairfield 26-7 struggled to beat Ft. Madison 2-32 in the other semi 7-3, Trojans had to score 5 runs in the bottom of the 5th to get control of the game and advance.

Tonight on KILJ-FM 105.5 and New London who is 17-8 will play at Highland in the Class 1A District championship game at 7 p.m.  KILJ-FM 105.5 and will carry the game live.

Class 2A District Final action will take place at Mediapolis where the Bulldogs will host Van Buren-Harmony at 7 p.m.
