Mt. Pleasant is hosting a Class 4A Regional softball final tonight….That’s not the big new though…Mt. Pleasant is playing in that Regional Softball final!!  The Panthers came from behind to score a 6-3 win over 11th ranked Keokuk on the Chiefs home diamond last night. 8th ranked  Davenport Assumption is the opponent for M.P. tonight, game time should be 7:30 p.m. and KILJ-FM 105.5 and will be broadcasting the game live.  The Panther game is part of a double header, Fairfield plays N. Scott at 5:30 p.m. in another 4A Regional Final.

Shelby Allender was the winning pitcher and 2-4 at the plate, Bailey Johnson was 2-2 with a homerun, Annie Leichty had 2 RBI’s as did Jackie Fraise.  Panthers are 19-19, Keokuk ends the season 22-12.


New London will be back in the Girls State Summer Softball Championships next week after an exciting come from behind win 2-1 over Sigourney at Ottumwa last night.  New London was down to it’s last out, matter of fact down to it’s last strike as senior shortstop Jorgi Krieger was batting in the bottom of the 7th inning with her senior teammate Emily Parks at 2nd base.  The count was 1 ball and 2 strikes on Jorgie when Sigourney’s senior pitcher Jordon Carter delivered the pitch that was  crushed over the left field wall for a walk off 2 run homer that sends the 30-2 #2 ranked Tigers to state.  They will play Newell Fonda (29-12) Monday night at 7 p.m.  KILJ-FM 105.5 and will carry the game live.

Morgan Christner was the winning pitcher striking out 9, walking 2 and allowed 3 hits.  To go along with Kriege’rs dinger, Emily Parks had a single and Victoria Noel a double.

The rest of the State Tournament Field is-Don Bosco, Logan Magnolia, AGWSR, Bellevue Marquette Catholic, Lynnville Sully and River Valley.


BOYS 1A DISTRICT BASEBALL RESULTS:  Holy Trinity Catholic 4 Waco 3.  BOYS 2A DISTRICT BASEBALL RESULTS:  Central Lee 8 Mid Prairie 7, Wapello 13 L&M 11 8 innings.

TONIGHT: M CLASS 1A DISTRICT PLAY-Holy Trinity Catholic vs Notre Dame @ WMU 5 p.m.  New London @ WMU 7 p.m.  KILJ will have score updates during our softball broadcast.


The MPHS baseball team ends the regular season at Community Field in Burlington today with a JV-Varsity double header beginning at 3;30 p.m. against the Burlington Grayhounds.



This week at the Henry County Fair has a couple of events you won’t want to miss.  The always popular Demolition Derby at 7 p.m. in front of the grandstand Saturday night July 18thCommunity 1st Credit Union will sponsor an IFPA sanctioned truck and tractor pull in front of the grandstand at 4 p.m. Sunday July 19th.
