Iowa Wesleyan basketball traveled down to St Louis yesterday for the second time this week, last night they played the Webster Gorloks. In the women’s game it was Webster winning 85-65. Allie Massner led the Tigers with 27 points, Darby Massner had 24 points along with 14 rebounds and 5 assists. As a team Iowa Wesleyan shot 45% from the floor, 40% on three pointers, and 83% on free throws. Tigers are now 3-13 overall and 2-8 in conference play.

In the men’s game the Gorloks defense was bit too much for the Tigers as Webster won 77-49. Austin Rebel led Iowa Wesleyan with 16 points and Austin Banks had 6 rebounds and 5 assists. As a team the Tigers shot 29% from the floor, 22% on three pointers, and 50% on free throws. Tigers fall to 5-13 overall and 3-8 in conference play.

Both teams will be back at home this Saturday for a conference double header vs Spalding University, women’s game at 1pm and men’s game at 3pm. Saturday is also Tiger Athletic Appreciation day so make sure to get there earlier to check out all the fun stuff they’ll have.


The Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) released the 2018 Fall Academic All-Conference honors and Iowa Wesleyan football had 11 players on the list. In order to be named academic all-conference players must have a semester grade point average of 3.5 or higher during the season. Tiger football players on the list are Gustavo Brochetto, Justin Clayton, Austin Ferguson, Chase Hartweg, Carter Jensen, Adrian Lutz, Dylan McDonald, Harrison McIntyre, Guylon Moore, Da’Vante Stafford, and Ronnie Williams.


The St Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference released their softball preseason coaches poll. The top team was Westminster College, the Blue Jays received 78 points and 7 first place votes. Iowa Wesleyan received 29 points and was picked to finish 8th. Tigers finished last season 7-27 overall and 5-13 in conference. The big addition to the roster is Morgan Christner, the Junior from New London transferred from Illinois State this season. At New London she was a four year First Team All-Conference, All-District, All-State, All-Hawkeye, and All-golden Triangle recipient. She also received All-Tournament honors in 2013 and 2015 plus was named Iowa Pitcher of the Year in her junior season.

Thursday: Varsity bowling will be hosting Fairfield at Iris Bowling Center 1pm

8th grade boys basketball playing at Fort Madison 4:30pm

Varsity wrestling will host Burlington for Senior Night 6:30pm

Friday: Middle School wrestling will host a meet with Fairfield, Fort Madison, Keokuk, and Washington at 4:30pm

JV Wrestling will be in a tournament at Fairfield 5:30pm

Varsity and JV girls basketball will host Fort Madison 6/7:30pm, its Pack the Gym night for Van Allen and Lincoln (No freshman game)

Varsity/JV/Freshman boys basketball will play at Fort Madison 4:45pm/6pm/7:30pm

Saturday: Varsity wrestling will be competing in a tournament at Fairfield at 10am

Varsity basketball girls & boys double header vs Burlington 3pm/4:30pm


College basketball:

Tonight #19 Iowa has a big conference contender coming to town as the Hawkeyes host #6 Michigan State. First time these two teams met in East Lansing the Spartans won 90-68. Game time tonight is 6pm, pregame coverage will begin at 5pm on 105.5fm and
