Mt Pleasant boys basketball played in the US Cellular Center on Saturday as part of the Wells Fargo Advisors Shootout. The Panthers played against the Class 2A #2 ranked Camanche Indians. Mt Pleasant won 75-65 to pick up their 6th win of the year. Keegan Kohorst led the team with 25 points, and Jaxon Hoyle added in 15 off the bench. Panthers are now 6-6 on the season but tonight they host undefeated Class 1A #4 New London.

Mt Pleasant wrestling was scheduled to wrestle at Centerville over the weekend but they cancelled that trip due to the weather.

 

Due to the snow Iowa Wesleyan’s road trip down to St Louis to play Fontbonne in a conference double header was postponed to Monday, January 21st. On that Monday the women’s team will play at 1pm and the men’s game will be at 3pm. Other conference matchups that had to be postponed were Westminster at Greenville and Principia at Webster.

 

On Friday night we broadcasted the New London at Danville double header. In the girls game it was Danville with their lockdown defense winning 50-29. Bears were led by Bailee Morris who scored 17 points and Isabella Smith added in 14. In the boys game it was #4 New London dominating the Bears. At halftime the Tigers had 32 points while only allowing Danville to score 8. New London won by the final score of 66-35. Grant Swanson and Isaac McSorley led the team with 15 points each.

 

Mt Pleasant basketball hosted Fairfield for a conference double header on Friday night. In the girls game it was the Trojans winning 62-43. In the boys game Fairfield won by the score of 47-38, Sam Beatty led the Panthers with 15 points and Keegan Kohorst had 11.

In the JV games for Mt Pleasant the boys team won 69-67 in overtime. Brevin Wilson hit the game winner with 9 seconds left to play and had 14 points to lead the team. JV girls lost to Fairfield 42-30, Ava Lowery and Avery Sutter both had 8 points. Mt Pleasant freshman boys won 53-31, Sam Jerrell led the team with 16 points and Dawon Trent had 15. Mt Pleasant freshman girls lost 47-33, Jaden Brumbaugh led the way with 9 points.

-Mediapolis beat Highland 61-52

-Wapello won 52-12 over Winfield-Mt Union

-Waco defeated West Burlington 47-34

-Fort Madison held on to win 49-48 over Keokuk

 

Local girls basketball results from Friday:

-Wapello over Winfield-Mt Union 50-36

-Mediapolis defeated Highland 64-59, if Bullettes win out they will be conference champs

-Central Lee beat Notre Dame 56-36

-Keokuk won 56-21 over Fort Madison

-Pekin beat Columbus 61-9

-West Burlington defeated Waco 58-37
