The Mt. Pleasant Panther wrestling team traveled to L&M and brought home a 36-21 win. Winning matches for the Panthers: Rob Pohren 145, Tyler Davis 152, Dalton Bass 170, Noah Brown 182, Jackson Kelly at heavyweight, Dalton Smith 106, Colton Mertens 132 and there were 2-double forfeits.

OTHER WRESTLING SCORES: Columbus 57 Iowa City Regina 21, Tri County/Montezuma 42 Waco 12, Cardinal 66 Waco 12.


Danville visited Burlington Notre Dame for girls and boys Super Conference basketball Tuesday night. The #1 Notre Dame girls won 92-28 and the #2 Danville boys won 77-64.

Kinsey Peterson led Danville in scoring with 7 points in the girls contest. Mason Speer led four Bears in double figures with 22 points.

The Iowa Wesleyan College women’s and men’s basketball teams host Westminister tonight in conference basketball. KILJ-FM 105.5 and will carry the games live beginning at 6 p.m. The Wesleyan women are 9-5 overall and 6-1 in the conference. Westminister is 6-4 overall and 5-1 in the conference. The Tiger men are 5-7 overall and 2-5 in the league, Westminister brings 2-11 record overall and 1-5 in the conference.


The Iowa men’s basketball team traveled to Minnesota and won 77-75, Iowa led by 17 points in the 2nd half but lost that lead and had to come from behind to get another conference win.

Tonight on KILJ-AM 1130 tune in for the Iowa State men playing Baylor in the Big 12.


The Mt. Pleasant versus Solon girls basketball games that were to be played Monday January 5th have been rescheduled for Monday January 26th.  Fresh-Soph game begins at 4:30, followed by the JV and Varsity games. KILJ-FM 105.5 and will carry the varsity game beginning at 7:30 p.m.


The Henry County Conservation Naturalist Cari Nicely has announced the schedule for this year’s fly tying classes. This year there is one for beginners and one for experienced tiers. Here are the details of the classes.
