Mt Pleasant girls basketball hosted Danville in Panther Gym. The Bears had some airtight defense that led them to a 60-32 win. Maddie Williamson led the Panthers with 13 points. Alyssa Pfadenhauer led the Bears with 22 points and Isabella Smith had 15. Mt Pleasant falls to 2-10 on the season and have another tough matchup tonight when they host Fairfield. Danville improves to 8-5 and they have a rivalry matchup with New London at home.

Mt. Pleasant traveled to Southeast Conference foe Washington last night for a wrestling dual.  The Demons defeated Mt. Pleasant 51-24.  Winning matches for the Panthers were:  Brayden Ackles at 113 lbs. by decision, Nate Wallace at 145 lbs. by decision, Jayden Davis picked up a fall at 160, James DeMeyer won by forfeit at 170, and Zach Beason won by fall at 220 lbs.

 

Local boys basketball results:

-Washington defeated Keota 67-63.

Local girls basketball results:

-Highland won 68-30 over Cardinal

 

Sports scheduled for Mt Pleasant:

Friday: Basketball double header with Fairfield in Panther Gym, JV girls will play at 4:45 in Panther Gym while JV boys play at Mt Pleasant Middle School. Then the freshman boys team will play at 6 and followed by the girls team, both games at the middle school. Varsity girls game will start at 6:15pm and the boys game will follow at 7:45pm.

Saturday: Varsity wrestling will be competing in a tournament in Centerville starting at 9:30am. Other schools wrestling include Bondurant-Farrar, Centerville, Chariton, Columbus Junction, Creston, Fairfield, Interstate 35, Kirksville, Knoxville, Ottumwa, PCM, St Joseph Lafayette, Van Buren, and Winterset.

Varsity boys basketball will be playing in the Wells Fargo Shootout in the US Cellular Center against Camanche at 1:15pm.

 

Tonight we will be carrying one of the best rivalries in Southeast Iowa when the Danville Bears host the New London Tigers in a Superconference double header. Danville girls basketball is 8-5 on the season and will face a 2-9 New London team, game time is 6pm. The Bears boys team is also 6-6 on the season and they will play an undefeated 10-0 Tiger team, game time will be around 7:30pm. Both games will be carried on 105.5fm and KILJ.com.

 

Tomorrow Iowa Wesleyan basketball will be on the road down to St Louis for a conference double header at Fontbonne. The Tigers women’s team is 3-9 overall and 2-4 in SLIAC games and they will be facing a Fontbonne team that is 6-8 overall and 3-3 in conference play, the women’s game is scheduled for a 1pm tipoff.

The Iowa Wesleyan men’s team is 4-10 overall and 2-5 in conference games, they will play a Fontbonne team that is 5-9 overall and 3-4 in conference. The men’s game will begin around 3pm.

 

College Basketball this weekend:

#20 Iowa State is on a roller coaster stretch of the season. Last Saturday they shocked #5 Kansas but then lost at Baylor. Tomorrow morning they will look to bounce back at Kansas State. Game time is 11am and pregame coverage will begin at 10am on 1130am and kilj.com.
