Mediapolis defeated Mount Pleasant in dual meet wrestling by a score of 60-15. Panthers winning matches:

285: Jackson Kelley over Dillon Wagner by Fall 3:50 106: Dalton Smith over Jorden Riherd Dec 6-2 145: Rob Pohren over Remmington Benz Fall 5:53.

Blake Wickham and Keegan Pullis won JV matches for the Panthers.


The IWC womens basketball team downed Webster University in St. Louis 61-47, Karla Vietinghoff scored 25 points.

The IWC men also won at Webster 87-67,

Dion Lightner, C.J. Singletary and Chris Fowler all scored 18 points.

Tigers travel farther south today to Louisville, KY. Where they will play Spalding College Saturday.


Michigan State beat the Iowa Hawkeye men last night 75-61, Iowa led by 11 at halftime.

Illinois upset the #17 Iowa women 73-61 in Champaign, Ill. Last night.



The 3-6 Washington Demon girls basketball team comes to Panther Gymnasium tonight to play the 6-2 Mt. Pleasant Panther girls team that is on a four game winning streak that was accomplished on the road.  M.P. is coming off a road win Saturday at West Burlington and had a Monday night game at Solon weathered out and rescheduled for January 26th.  Washington won the last game they played a 51-45 victory over Burlington.  Amber Salow leads the Demons scoring at 7 points per game.  Mt. Pleasant is led by Kelsi Phipps at 14 points per game and Hannah Becker at 12 points per contest.  KILJ will have score updates during our boys broadcast.


The Mt. Pleasant High School boys varsity team improved their record to 2-5 when they picked up a win at West Burlington Saturday, tonight they are on the road again at Washington to play a Demon team that has a record of 2-5 also.  Brady Sartorius continues to lead the Panthers in scoring with 13 points a game, Derek Anding leads Washington at 15 points per game.  KILJ-FM 105.5 and will carry the varsity game live at 7:30 p.m.  The Panthers travel to Central Lee Saturday afternoon for nonconference play, KILJ-FM and will broadcast the varsity game at 3:30 p.m.



Game time for Mt. Pleasant JV / Varsity boys basketball at Central Lee has been moved up to a 2:00 p.m. start for the JV game followed by the the Varsity game.  KILJ-FM 105.5 and will carry the varsity game beginning at 3:30 p.m. 

The Mt. Pleasant versus Solon girls basketball games that were to be played this past Monday have been rescheduled for Monday January 26th.  Fresh-Soph game begins at 4:30, followed by the JV and Varsity games. KILJ-FM 105.5 and will carry the varsity game beginning at 7:30 p.m.


A long time Mt. Pleasant Panther fan passed away recently. Chuck McWilliams who graduated from MPHS in 1959 played on several successful Panther teams. After serving in the Air Force he returned to Mt. Pleasant and coached numerous little league teams and also officiated football at all levels for many years.


The Board of the Directors of the Iowa Girls High Athletic Union voted unanimously to increase the distance of Iowa girls high school cross country meets from 4,000 meters to 5,000 meters at its January 7th meeting. The move  begins  with the 2015 cross country season.

The move to 5,000 meters (3.1 miles) marks the first change in distance for Iowa girls high school cross country runners since 2002, when the distance was changed from two miles to 4,000 meters (2.5 miles).

Cross Country has been an IGHSAU-sanctioned sport since 1966.
