The Iowa Wesleyan Women’s basketball team defeated the MacMurray Highlanders in a conference match up Tuesday night 67-35 in Ruble Arena with three players scoring in double digits. IW had a 36-19 lead at halftime. Breanna Hall was the leading scorer for the Tigers with 21 points.  Iowa Wesleyan had two other players reach double digits on the night. Karla Vietinghoff had 17 points and 6 rebounds, while Kaylee Moseley added 10 points and 2 assists. Iowa Wesleyan is now 8-4 overall and 5-0 in conference play. The Tigers have a quick turn around this week as they will travel to St. Louis, MO. to play Webster University on Thursday at 6pm. The St. Louis Intercollegiate Conference has tabbed the Wesleyan game on Saturday, January 10th as their game of the week. Iowa Wesleyan will take on Spalding University at 1 pm. At the start of this week, both teams were unbeaten in conference action with Spalding sitting at 6-3 overall and Iowa Wesleyan at 8-4.

The IWC men fell to MacMurray 97-86, after trailing at halftime 46-38. Tray Politte and C.J. Singletary each had 12 points for the Tigers. Will Stephenson had 11, Chris Fowler and Marquis Johnson had 10 each. The Tiger men are 4-6 overall and 0-3 in the conference. They also travel to Webster in St. Louis for a Thursday game and to Louisville, Ky. For a Saturday clash with Spalding.

Mt. Pleasant High School girls and boys bowling teams beat L&M. Girls won 2410-2360, with Jacque Gerleman rolling a 365. M.P. boys won 2966-2882, Brock Palar rolled a 446.

The Henry County Conservation Naturalist Cari Nicely has announced the schedule for this year’s fly tying classes. This year there is one for beginners and one for experienced tiers. Here are the details of the classes.
