Weather caused postponement of the Mt. Pleasant High School girls and boys basketball games. The girl’s action with Solon has not been rescheduled, the boy’s games will be played Monday January 12th with the JV game at 5:30 and the varsity at 7 p.m.

 

The Mt. Pleasant high School girls and boys bowling teams are scheduled to bowl at L&M tonight.

 

The latest rankings of high school boys basketball teams in Iowa has 1 S.E. Iowa team ranked, the Danville Bears are ranked #3 in the 1A class, Central Lyon is the #1 ranked team.

 

Iowa Wesleyan will play their 2nd home game since returning from Christmas break against MacMurray College of Jacksonville, Ill tonight beginning at 6 p.m..  The Tigers got a conference win this past Saturday over Greenville College 73-48.

Iowa Wesleyan jumped out to an eleven point lead in the first five minutes of that game and held a 41-22 at halftime.

Iowa Wesleyan had three players reach double figures, Karla Vietinghoff led the team with 19 points, while Breanna Hall and Lauren Grubb each had 11 points for the Tigers.

 

The Tiger men will also host MacMurray College tonight following the women’s game. Wesleyan faced Greenville in their first home game back from break Saturday and fell 72-70 to the league leading Panthers. Iowa Wesleyan was unable to hang on for the win after holding a slight lead at halftime.

Two Tigers scored double digits in that game.  C. J. Singletary had 18 points and Mitchell Drey added 13 points and 4 rebounds.  Brock Bulter added 9 points on 3-5 shooting from behind the arc.

KILJ-FM 105.5 and kilj.com will carry both Tiger games live tonight beginning at 6 p.m.

 

The Iowa Hawkeye men’s basketball team beat Nebraska in Carve Hawkeye Arena 70-59 Monday night. Aaron White scored 23 points to lead Iowa, Gabe Olaseni added 18 points. Iowa is 11-4 overall and off to a 2-0 start in the Big Ten, they host Michigan State Thursday KILJ-FM 105.5 will carry that game. The Spartan rolled over Indiana last night 70-50.
