Mount Pleasant girls soccer hosted Ottumwa for a Varsity and JV double header. Varsity played first in a high scoring game. In the match Sydney Doak for Mount Pleasant, scored with 21:50 left in the first half to start the scoring. Ottumwa answered minutes later with a goal of their own making it 1-1. With 5 minutes left in the first half Sydney Doak added another with an assist from Mary West making it 2-1 at half. In the 2nd half, Sydney Doak scored her 3rd goal of the game off a shot from Anna Ostby with 27 minutes left. Doak added her 4th goal of the game just 5 minutes later to finish out the scoring for the match, making it 4-1 in favor of the Panthers. Ayden Ross was goalie for the Panthers and recorded 4 saves in the win. Mount Pleasant outshot Ottumwa 16 to 4. Mount Pleasant is now 2-0 and will play Fairfield on Monday.
The JV girls soccer game was a shortened match because of the weather and poor conditions. Both teams played well with no breakthrough. The game ended at 0-0.

The Mount Pleasant girls and boys track teams were at the varsity relays in Washington. The men’s team ranked first place with an overall score of 212 in the Demon Relays. The women’s team was competitive as well coming just under the top finisher Iowa City – Liberty with an overall score of 173, just 4 points under first place.

The Mount Pleasant Girls Golf team won the Keokuk Invite, MT. Pleasant shot a 190, defending State Champion Washington had a 191, host school Keokuk had a 249, Burlington carded a 254. For MPHS Anni Liechty tied for 2nd with a 42, Elli Liechty shot 46, Michal Wohlleber shot 46, and Melody Miller added a 56.

Mount Pleasant High School Boys golf results: MP – 165, Washington – 180, Keokuk – 213…..Trev White shot a 36 to capture medalist honors. Brevin Wilson shot 41, Jake Moffett had a 44 and Bailey Shelledy also had a 44 score.

Iowa Wesleyan Men’s Golf – Jaime Suarez took Medalist honors taking home the top individual score with a 74 through 18 holes. The Tigers finished 6th of 11 teams at the Clarke Spring Invitational golf tournament at the Eagle Ridge Golf Course in Galena, Illinois.

The St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference has named Suarez as the Golf Player of the Week. Suarez was recognized for his play at the Jim Wetherbee Memorial Invite. This is the second Golf Player of the Week award for Suarez. He earned the honors for the first time back in September.

Iowa Wesleyan women’s golf will play in their first spring season competition over the weekend in the Galesburg Spring Invitational. On Saturday they will be golfing at the Lake Bracken Country Club and tee off at noon. On Sunday they will be golfing at Soangetha Country Club and tee off at 9am.

Iowa Wesleyan softball will be at home for their own conference series. On Saturday the Tigers will host Fontbonne University for a double header. First game will begin at 1pm out at the Mapleleaf Athletic Complex.

Iowa Wesleyan baseball will be at home this weekend for a conference series. Due to expected rain on Sunday Iowa Wesleyan and Westminster College baseball have agreed to move their conference series up from Saturday/Sunday to Friday/Saturday. Friday, tonight, will be a single game starting at 6pm. On Saturday the Tigers and Blue Jays will play a double header with the first game starting at 1pm. Saturday will also be the second annual BBQ at the Ballpark. The Iowa Wesleyan Athletics department will be grilling out in the Mapleleaf Athletic Complex parking lot starting at 11:30am.

Boys middle school track hosting an invitational at Mapleleaf Athletic Complex at 4:30pm. Teams competing include                    Burlington, Fairfield, Fort Madison, Keokuk, Mid-Prairie, Ottumwa, and Washington.

-Saturday: JV boys soccer playing in an invitational at Fort Madison starting at 9am
