The Mediapolis Bulldog wrestling team is headed back to the State Team Dual meet championships Wednesday February 18th at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines after crushing the competition in the Regional Team Dual Meet competition they hosted last night. Mepo in the 1st round beat Knoxville 60-9 and then rolled over Washington 65-18. The Demons in the 1st round had beaten Albia 39-18. Mediapolis making their 5th appearance in the state duals has a dual meet record of 26-4 and will open up the State Team Dual meet competition at 9 a.m. next Wednesday against Central Lyon/George Little Rock who has a record of 17-0. The Bulldogs finished 3rd two years ago in the State Duals and 2nd last year.
Other 2A schools in the duals: Clear Lake, Independence, Union, Creston/Orient Macksburg, Davenport Assumption and New Hampton.
A 3A regional team dual meet will take place tonight, Ft. Madison will wrestle at Cedar Rapids Prairie against Dubuque Hemstead at 6 p.m. The winner will then wrestle C.R. Prairie for the right to go onto the State Team Dual meet.

The Mt. Pleasant Middle School 8th grade boys basketball teams played at Keokuk. In the “A” game M.P. won 47-14, Rhett Zeglen had 17 points. “B” game Mt. Pleasant won 27-14, Riley McQiggen scored 18. In the “C” game the Panthers won 24-13, Willie Banks hit for 6 points.
Mt. Pleasant Rec Center announces their Little Dunkers basketball program for 1st & 2nd graders.
D The youngsters in the program will learn how to dribble, pass, shoot! This is an instruction program for boys and girls in 1st & 2nd grade. Children will learn the basics of basketball through fun instructional drills. Youth sized basketballs and lowered baskets will be used. Program will be instructed by the MPCHS Varsity Boys Basketball Head Coach, Paul Rundquist.

SEI SUPER CONFERENCE BOYS BASKETBALL “SHOOTOUT” GAMES ARE TO BE PLAYED FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 13, 2015
“Shootout” games will pair the first place team in the North Division against the first place team in the South Division. Also, the second place teams in each division through the tenth place teams will play each other. All games are to be played on Friday, February 13, 2015 at the North Division schools with the exception of the 2nd place teams, Highland of the North Division vs. Notre Dame of the South Division will be played at Southeast Community College at 6:00 PM and the 1st place teams, Lone Tree of the North Division vs. Danville of the South Division will be played beginning 20 minutes after completion of the first game. KILJ-FM 105.5 and kilj.com will carry that championship battle live beginning at 7:30 p.m. this Saturday.

NOTE: Wapello and Columbus had identical conference and season records so the tie breaker calls for the schools name that is last in the alphabet to be the higher placement in the standings.
The Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union Regional Tournament games for the 1A-2A and 3A teams in the area kick off this week. Class 1A tourney opens up Thursday February 12th when Winfield Mt. Union plays at New London at 7 p.m. KILJ-FM 105.5 and kilj.com will broadcast that game live. Waco plays host to Tri County on the 12th, Harmony Plays at Holy Trinity Catholic and Moulton-Udell plays at Van Buren on February 12th.
Class 2A 1st round games has Danville at Wapello and West Burlington at Columbus Community on Saturday night at 7 p.m.
Class 3A has #1 ranked Mediapolis hosting L&M on February 14th KILJ-FM 105.5 and kilj.com will carry that game live. Davis County plays at Central Lee Saturday.
