5th ranked class 5A Iowa City West shot the basketball last night like Panther Gym was their homecourt. The Women of Troy burnt the nets in a 68-38 win over 14th ranked class 4A Mt. Pleasant in non-conference play. At the end of the 1st quarter West led 11-7 still anyones game. By halftime they built a 32-15 lead and didn’t slow down any in the 2nd half. Mt. Pleasant had Kelsi Phipps score 15 points, she scored her teams 1st 13 points in the game. Iowa City West hit 25 of 39 2 point field goals and was 10 of 17 from 3 point range. Now 14-4 the Panthers prepare for another home game Thursday against Centerville a team they beat easily on the road earlier in the season, Fairfield beat the Big Red 50-15 last night.
Iowa City West won the JV game 51-31, Bailey Johnson scored 12 points to lead M.P.

Iowa City West defeated the MPHS freshman boys in basketball last night 64-58, Panthers trailed 38-30 at halftime. Jonathan Ita scored 16, Damian Lorenzo scored 13 and Jake Lowe 12 points.
SEI SUPER CONFERENCE GIRLS BASKETBALL “SHOOTOUT” GAMES ARE TO BE PLAYED SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 7, 2015.
The SEI Super Conference Girls Basketball “Shootout” games will pair the first place team in the North Division against the first place team in the South Division. Also, the second place teams in each division through the tenth place teams will play each other. In order to provide Winfield-MU with a game, Danville of the South Division will play Winfield-MU of the North Division as well as Highland since Maharishi of the South Division does not field a girls basketball team. All other games are to be played on Saturday, February 7, 2015 at the South Division schools. A preliminary game between the JV teams of each school will begin at 6:00 PM with the varsity game to begin 20 minutes following the completion of the JV game.

The UNI Panthers won on the road at Indiana State 61-51. Indiana State is coached by former Mt. pleasant resident Greg Lansing whose father Dave coached basketball at Mt. Pleasant High School before moving onto Harlan.
Reschedule plan for Mt. Pleasant High School and Middle School games weathered out Monday February 2nd.
Middle School basketball games will move to the February the 20th same sites and times.
JV girl’s game cancelled.
JV boy’s game will move to the 12th at 7:00 in high school gym.
