The United States Collegiate Athletic Conference has announced their Player of the Week honors.  Rachel Williams OF Iowa Wesleyan has been named the USCAA DI Player of the Week for her role in helping Iowa Wesleyan pick up two wins last week.

The MPHS Freshman boy’s basketball team fell to Iowa City West Tuesday night by a score of 55-46.  Panthers led 29-27 at halftime.  Rhett Zeglen scored 13 points and Tucker Johnson added 10 to lead M.P. who will travel to Ft. Madison Friday night.

 

A schedule change was announced by the Mt. Pleasant High School Athletic Department Tuesday, the Mt. Pleasant vs. Mediapolis JV girls basketball game scheduled for January 11th, will now start at 6:00 instead of 5:30.  They will be playing only one half in the JV game prior to the Varsity game.

 

University of Wisconsin head men’s basketball coach Bo Ryan has retired from that job immediately.  Ryan who turns 68 on Sunday coached his Badgers to an 85-67 win over Prairie View A&M.  Assistant coach Greg Gard will take over the team.

 

Thursday evening Tasha Upton from Miss K’s Homemade Delectables restaurant is supplying Cheesy Potato soup for the players and coaches of the Mt. Pleasant Panther girl’s basketball team.  The Panther team wants to thank Miss K’s for their support and invite fans out to support the girls teams Friday night when they host conference foe Ft. Madison, JV game at 6:15 and the varsity game will follow.  It’s also pack the gym night for Van Allen and Salem Elementary schools.
