The MPHS varsity girls and boys bowling teams competed in a tournament at the Champion Bowl in Ottumwa yesterday..

The latest rankings of boy’s high school basketball teams in Iowa shows the following schools leading the classes.  Class 4A Valley of West Des Moines #1, Class 3A Dubuque Wahlert #1, Class 2A Western Christian #1 and Class 1A is topped by Gladbrook-Reinbeck the Danville Bears are ranked 4th and IMS is 10th.

 

For the second consecutive week, Rachel Williams of Iowa Wesleyan has been named the Saint Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week.  She received the honors after helping the Tigers pick up two wins last week.

In the first win, Iowa Wesleyan defeated Mt. Mercy University with the help of 18 points and 9 assists by Williams. The Tigers followed up with the SLIAC Game of the Week against Westminster College.  Williams recorded 32 points in the overtime win which made Iowa Wesleyan the only undefeated team remaining in conference play.  On the week, Williams averaged 25 points and 5.5 assists.

 

Thursday evening Tasha Upton from Miss K’s Homemade Delectables restaurant is supplying Cheesy Potato soup for the players and coaches of the Mt. Pleasant Panther girl’s basketball team.  The Panther team wants to thank Miss K’s for their support and invite fans out to support the girls teams Friday night when they host conference foe Ft. Madison, JV game at 6:15 and the varsity game will follow.  It’s also pack the gym night for Van Allen and Salem Elementary schools.

 

Monday Night Football saw the New York Giants down the Miami Dolphins 31-24.
