FROM THE IRIS BOWLING CENTER AND SPLITZ LOUNGE SPORTS DESK.

Mt. Pleasant High School 9th-12th grade Football Camp will run today, tomorrow and Friday from 8:00 to 11:00 am.  Show up at Maple Leaf by 7:45 am.

7th and 8th Grade Football Camp is going to be held those days from 1:30 to 3:00 pm.

As the high school practices begin and the colleges and university teams gather together to begin preparing for the 2016 season, the NFL has also begun preparing for another season.  There are two former Mt. Pleasant Panther football players that are still on the active rosters of NFL teams.  Leonard Wester a 6’6’ 305 pound rookie offensive tackle is working to win a job with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Leonard was not drafted onto the team but with the help of an agent he got the chance to show the Buccaneers what he can do, so far Leonard has been impressing the coaches with his talents and work ethic.  Henry Krieger-Coble is a member of the World Champion Denver Broncos as a tight end.  Like Wester, Coble was not drafted but has been impressing the Bronco coaching staff with his ability to catch anything thrown his way.  Wester played his college ball at Missouri Western and Krieger-Coble for the Iowa Hawks.
