A new weekly program begins airing tonight on KILJ-FM and kilj.com.  It’s Football On Monday Night with Koehler Wendt of KILJ sports.  The program will review and preview fall sports on the local, state and national scene.  Also fantasy league information will be covered.  Henry County Health Center sponsors Football on Monday Night, join us at 6 p.m.

 

The start of the 2015 high school football season begins this Friday night.  Here is a list of area high school football games for week 1 of the season:   Mt. Pleasant JV football team plays at Ottumwa Thursday at 5 p.m.  note that change of start time.  Friday night,  Ottumwa at Mount Pleasant (freshman play at 5 p.m.)   KILJ-FM 105.5 and kilj.com will carry the varsity action live beginning with the pregame at 6:30 p.m.  Kcikoff at 7:30.     Columbus Community at Waco, WMU at Marengo Iowa Valley, New London at Wapello,  Danville at Highland, Fort Madison at West Burlington/Notre Dame,
Keokuk at Central Lee, Pella at Washington, Davis County at Fairfield, Lynnville-Sully at Van Buren, Mediapolis at Camanche.  Harmony at Cedar Valley Christian in 8 man football.

Ohio State is the unanimous choice as the #1 ranked college football team in the country.  The defending national champs received all 61 1st place votes.  TCU holds down the #2 spot followed by Alabama, Baylor and Michigan State.

Green Bay Packers got some bad news over the weekend when their all pro receiver Jordy Nelson injured a knee after catching a pass in an exhibition game against Pittsburgh.  Nelson will be reevaluated today in Green Bay to see how serious the injury is.  The Pack lost the game 24-19.

Tiger Woods faded in the final round of the Wyndham Championship Golf Tournament in Greensboro, N.C.  That allowed Davis Love III to grab the title with a 263 score, one stroke better than runnerup Jason Gore.  Tiger finished 4 strokes back with a 267.
