Iowa Wesleyan University football team has a problem they haven’t had for quite a number of years.  More players than equipment.  New head coach Mike Richtman has taken over the reigns of a team that won just one game last year.  The Tigers had struggled with roster size, but that seems to be changing this year with a squad of 84 players on campus with 61 of them 1st year or transfer players.  Wesleyan will open the season at home September 3rd with a night game against Cornell College of Mt. Vernon, Iowa.  KILJ-FM 105.5 and kilj.com will carry the game live.

The St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference has announced the 2016 Women’s Soccer Preseason Coaches’ Poll.  Iowa Wesleyan was picked to finish in tenth place this season after receiving eleven points in the poll.  Webster University was picked as the conference favorites for the fourth year in a row, after receiving 78 total points.

Last year, the Tigers ended the year with an overall record of 0-15-1. Iowa Wesleyan is under the direction of interim head coach, Nick Stebbins.  Caitlin O’Neill returns to the Tigers after recording 176 saves on the season and over 1000 minutes in the goal.

There will be a Winfield Mt. Union Meet the Players night for fall sports and activities beginning at 7:00 PM tonight on the football field.  This will be moved indoors in the event of inclement weather.  A meal will kick-off the evening’s activities beginning at 6 p.m.

The Mount Pleasant Aquatic Center has NEW hours for today and tomorrow. The pool will only be open from 1-5pm.  The last day to be open for the season …will be Friday, August 19th. Due to our lifeguards heading back to college and getting busy with school activites we will have to close on Friday. We would like to thank everyone who supported us this season!
