The 2015 Mt. Pleasant High School “Meet the Players Night” will be held at Maple Athletic Complex on Friday, August 21st. The schedule of events…..6:30 P.M. – Mt. Pleasant Athletic Booster Club begins serving meals 7:15 P.M. – Introductions of Cheerleaders, Players, Managers, and Coaches begins. The MPHS Cross Country teams will be introduced, then the 9th, 10th and Varsity Football teams , followed by Volley Ball introductions. The cheerleaders will be introduced next with football scrimmaging to follow.
The MPHS volleyball team scrimmage scheduled against Mediapolis tonight has been cancelled.
7th grade football coach Kent Bennett will be conducting a mini camp for 7th grade football receivers and running backs this Wednesday thru Friday from 10-11 a.m. each day at Maple Leaf Field. If you are unsure what position you will play, feel free to attend the camp.
Parents and community members are invited to WMU’s fall sports Meet the Players night on Thursday, August 20th.
Beginning at 6 PM, the Big Red Pride booster club will be serving a freewill donation meal. at the outdoor concession stand in the athletic complex.
Meet the players night activities begin at 6:30 PM also at the athletic complex and will feature introductions of student-athletes and coaches of fall sports and activities.
Al Magnani has accepted a job as a math teacher at Mt. Pleasant High School. The former Iowa Wesleyan men’s basketball coach has resigned as head men’s basketball coach at the University of Jamestown in North Dakota after leading them to a 20-9 record and a North Star Athletic Association title in his one season there. He was named the conference coach of the year.
Australian Jason Day won the PGA Championship Tournament played at Sheboygan, Wisconsin over the weekend. He finished at 20 under par a record for a major tournament. Jordon Spieth was runner up, but still moved into the #1 ranking in the world for professional golfers replacing Rory McIlroy.
