Mt Pleasant varsity girls tennis played in the Fort Madison Invitational Tournament on Saturday. Fairfield won with a team score of 14 followed by Fort Madison with 13, Keokuk 6, Maharishi 6, Mt Pleasant was at 5, and West Burlington-Notre Dame at 4. In singles Shaleen Thiengmany won 8-0 over Vaishavi of Maharishi in the first round and then defeated Delaynee Billings from Keokuk 8-2 in the 3rd round. In the consolation final Thiengmany defeated Lily Cadwallader from Fort Madison 8-1 to finish in 3rd place. Breeana Runyon won in the second round over West Burlington-Notre Dame’s Courtney Erickson 8-5 and in the consolation final she beat Shrishti Sharma from Maharishi 8-0 to finish in 3rd place.
In doubles Erin Zihlman and Hallie Sandeen lost first round but were able to win 8-1 in the second round over Joleen Kelly/Binita Gautum from West Burlington-Notre Dame. Sierra Barton/Olivia Larson also lost in the first round but won 8-1 in the 5th place match over Kierra Huddleston/Julia de Gala from Keokuk.
Iowa Wesleyan softball was in action on Saturday hosting a conference double header with Fontbonne University. In the first game Tigers scored first in the 3rd inning on a Morgan Christner RBI double. Iowa Wesleyan would score again in the 5th inning on a McKenzie Copher solo home run. Then in the 6th inning Tigers got two more runs starting with an Alex Eyman solo home run and then a Copher RBI double to give the final score of 4-0. Morgan Christner got the win after striking out ten batters and only allowed four hits in a complete game shutout.
Offense kept rolling for Iowa Wesleyan in the second game. Alex Eyman hit a two RBI double and McKenna Woolery reached on an error which scored a run for a 3-0 lead. Tigers added a single run in the 2nd inning. In the 3rd the offense exploded for six runs off four hits. McKenzie Copher hit a three run home run, her second homer of the day, then Morgan Christner hit a double with the bases loaded to score 3 RBIs. Griffins finally got their first runs of the day in the 5th inning to avoid the shutout. Tigers won by the final score of 10-2. Emma McDanel picked up the win pitching five innings while Morgan Christner and McKenzie Copher both finished with three RBIs. Iowa Wesleyan is now 15-6 on the season and 6-2 in conference play, they will be back in action on Wednesday in St Louis for a conference double header with Webster University.
Iowa Wesleyan baseball was also at home over the weekend for a conference series with Westminster College. On Friday the Tigers lost 14-1, the lone score came from Jack de Burgh on a sacrifice fly. In the first game on Saturday the Blue Jays won again, this time 8-2. Both runs came in the 3rd inning off RBI singles by Jacob Leonard and Nick Salas. In the second game the Tiger offense stalled out in a 15-0 loss to drop a sweep to Westminster. Iowa Wesleyan is now 4-18-1 overall and 2-8 in conference play. Tigers will be back in action on Wednesday when they host Blackburn College for a conference double header.

Middle school girls track will compete in an invitational in Washington 4:30pm
Boys golf will compete in a tournament at Burlington Golf Club at 9:30am

Boys track will be hosting the Denny White Relays at the Mapleleaf Athletic Complex at 4:30pm. Teams competing include Cardinal, Centerville, Central Lee, Clear Creek-Amana, Danville, Fairfield, Fort Madison, Iowa City Liberty, Keokuk, Lone Tree, Louisa-Muscatine, Mediapolis, New London, Pekin, Van Buren, Waco, Wapello, Washington, West Burlington-Notre Dame, and Winfield-Mt Union
Varsity girls soccer will play at Keokuk at 5pm, JV game at 7pm
Boys middle school track has a meet at Burlington High School against Burlington, Fairfield, and Keokuk at 4:30pm
On April 20th there is going to be a 3 on 3 basketball tournament taking place at Mt Pleasant Middle School. There are several age groups for male and female teams to compete in.
