Sports for Thursday, April 4th, 2019 –
The Iowa Wesleyan softball team extended their win streak to four games after traveling to Jacksonville, Illinois and taking two games from MacMurray. The Tigers defeated the Highlanders by scores of 3-1 and 14-1. Kayla Ford led the Tigers with three hits and Emma McDanel had a team high two runs batted in in the opening game. Morgan Christner struck out twelve Highlanders and recorded the complete game win. In game two, the Iowa Wesleyan offense came alive recording fifteen hits through five innings and scoring fourteen runs. Alex Eyman and Morgan Christner each recorded three hits, while Christner finished with a team high four RBIs. Emma McDanel allowed one run through five innings of work. She recorded three strikeouts in the win.
Next, Iowa Wesleyan Softball team will host Fontbonne University on Saturday, April 6th. The double-header is set to start at 1pm. The Tigers improve to 13-6 and 4-2 in conference play.
The Iowa Wesleyan men’s golf will be competing in the Clarke Spring Invitational in Galena, Illinois today. The tigers tee off at 10am this morning.
The Burlington Bees season opens tonight at 6 p.m. against the Quad Cities River Bandits. The games held tonight and tomorrow, which were originally scheduled as road games, are moved to Community Field in Burlington due to the flooding of the Mississippi River and the water surrounding Modern Woodmen Park in Davenport. Games tonight and tomorrow are scheduled to start at 6 p.m. with the Bees playing as the road team. The Burlington Bees official home opener of the 2019 season is on Saturday at 5 p.m. against the River Bandits.

-Today: Varsity girls golf play in an invitational in Keokuk at 10:30am
Varsity girls and boys track will compete in relays in Washington at 3:30pm
Varsity boys golf has a meet up in Washington at 4pm
Varsity girls soccer vs Ottumwa 4:30pm and JV game at 6pm
-Tomkorrow, Friday: Varsity boys tennis vs Centerville 4:30pm
Boys middle school track hosting an invitational at Mapleleaf Athletic Complex at 4:30pm. Teams competing include Fort Madison, Mount Pleasant, Washington, Fairfield, West Burlington/Notre Dame.
-Saturday: JV boys soccer playing in an invitational at Fort Madison starting at 9am
Varsity girls tennis playing in an invitational at Fort Madison at 9am
And don’t forget….
On April 20th there is going to be a 3 on 3 basketball tournament taking place at Mt Pleasant Middle School. There are several age groups for male and female teams to compete in.
