Mt Pleasant varsity boys track team competed in the Dave Aamodt Relays in Mediapolis. Panthers won 11 events and won the team title.
100 meter dash: Khang Truong was 2nd at 11.58, and Hoang Mai was 9th at 12.17
200 meter dash: Rylan Seberg was 3rd at 22.85 and Kyle Samples was 8th at 25.28
400 meter dash: Mason Mills was 5th at 57.39 and Brock Duncan was 7th at 1:01.75
800 meter run: Dalton Moyle finished 3rd at 2:10.70 and Connor Axman ran 2:40.48
110 meter hurdles: Chase Lamm was 1st at 15.11 and Konnor Peterson was 3rd at 16.37
400 meter hurdles: Lamm was 1st again at 57.93 and Dalton Church was 5th at 1:03.76
1,600 meter run: Jacob Stukerjurgen was 1st at 4:52.84, Cody Mertens was 2nd at 4:53.16, and Brody Bender was 3rd at 4:55.12.
3,200 meter run: Heath Brooks was 5th at 12:01.09
High jump: Sam Beatty was 1st with a jump of 6’5”
Long jump: Khang Truong was 1st with a jump of 21’4”
Shot put: Cooper Pullis was 1st at 48’9”, Riley McQuiggin was 2nd at 48’6”, and Henry Lutovsky was 5th at 45’8”
Discus: Zach Beason had a great performance with a throw of 172’3” which put him in 1st with a wide margin ahead of 2nd place
4×100 meter relay: 1st at 44.68
4×200 meter relay: 3rd at 1:40.10
4×400 meter relay: 1st at 3:45.06
4×800 meter relay: 1st at 8:31.62
4×110 meter shuttle hurdle: 1st at 1:03.41
Distance medley: Mt Pleasant finished 2nd at 4:17.55
Mt Pleasant girls golf played out at the Mt Pleasant Golf and Country Club against Keokuk and Fairfield. Panthers shot a team score of 213, Keokuk shot 263, and Fairfield didn’t have enough players for a team score. Mt Pleasant’s Elli Liechty was a medalist with a score of 51 with teammates Anni Liechty and Michal Woholleber as runner ups at 53.
Mt Pleasant 8th grade girls track team competed in their first meet of the season out at the Mapleleaf Athletic Complex yesterday. Panthers finished in 5th place in the team standings. Mt Pleasant’s 1st place finishers in the shuttle hurdle were Jayden Housh, Jordan Crooks, Eva Rounceville, and Allie Westercamp. Kylee Coleman finished in 1st in the discus. 3rd place finishers for Mt Pleasant include Kali Barnett in the 400 meter dash, Jayden Housh in the 100 meter hurdles, Jema Settles in the discus, and in the 4×400 with Tristan Shull, Kate Schimmelpfennig, Jayden Housh, and Makayla Dietzenbach.
Mt Pleasant 7th grade girls track team also competed yesterday. Panthers finished as the top team with 109 points. Mt Pleasant’s 1st place finishers include Teyanna Lane in the 100 meter dash at 14.45 and in the 200 meter dash at 30.67. Josie Gilmore was 1st in the 200 meter hurdles at 33.98 and in the high jump at 4’4”. Panther’s 4×100 meter relay team was 1st at 1:00.71 with the team of Baily Jalas, Leslie Lopez, Ella Gideon, and Josie Gilmore. 2nd place finishes include Josie Gilmore in the 100 meter hurdles at 19.64, Elsie Lange in the 800 meter run at 2:59.43, Teyanna Lane in the long jump at 13’, and Jolynn Keomanivong in the discus at 51’7.5”. Mt Pleasant finished 3rd in the shuttle hurdle relay at 1:34.01 with Alayna DuFour, Aubrey Claiborne, Addison Bentler, and Rellana Van Deuren.
Iowa Wesleyan baseball hosted Cornell College yesterday in a single non-conference game. Rams got things going early with four runs off four hits in the 1st inning. Tigers answered back with two runs in the bottom of the inning off a Tavares Williams 2 RBI single. Rams scored two more runs in the 2nd inning but Tigers struck back. Minami Matsumoto hit a RBI single to make it a 6-3 game. Iowa Wesleyan scored one more run in the 5th inning when Chazz Brown hit a RBI triple. Cornell scored two more runs to win the game 9-4. Five different Tigers got a hit in the game and Tavares Williams led the team with 2 RBIs. Everett Swinson pitched eight innings in relief and struck out seven batters. Tigers are now 4-15-1 and will be back in action coming up this weekend for a home series with conference opponent Westminster College.
Iowa Wesleyan softball is in on the road today playing at MacMurray College. Tigers are 11-6 on the season and 2-2 in conference. Highlanders are 1-13 overall and 0-2 in conference. Today’s double header will have game one starting at 3pm.

-Friday: Varsity boys tennis vs Centerville 4:30pm
Boys middle school track hosting an invitational at Mapleleaf Athletic Complex at 4:30pm. Teams competing include Burlington, Fairfield, Fort Madison, Keokuk, Mid-Prairie, Ottumwa, and Washington.
-Saturday: JV boys soccer playing in an invitational at Fort Madison starting at 9am

On April 20th there is going to be a 3 on 3 basketball tournament taking place at Mt Pleasant Middle School. There are several age groups for male and female teams to compete in.
