Mt Pleasant girls track competed in the 44th annual Timm Lamb Relays in Fort Madison. Panthers finished 1st in the team standings with 145 points, Cedar Rapids Kennedy was 2nd at 118, and Winfield-Mt Union was 3rd with 103.

100 meter dash: Sydni Coleman ran 14.98, and Abby Ross was 15.17

200 meter dash: Kendall Dascher finished 10th at 30.07, Sydni Coleman at 31.29, and Abby Ross at 32.98

400 meter dash: Maggie Cristoforo finished 2nd at 1:01.65, Monroe Swain was 10th at 1:12.95, and Jessi Andrew was 12th at 1:15.07

800 meter dash: Maggie Jennings finished 2nd at 2:30.76, Abby Ryon was 3rd at 2:30.81, and Gisele Fajardo Pena was 12th at 2:59.23

1500 meter run: Abby Ryon finished 1st at 5:09.31, and Monroe Vansickel was 5th at 5:57.34

3000 meter run: Abby Ryon finished 1st at 10:59.16 and Claire Holtkamp was 4th at 12:40.49

100 meter hurdles: Karsyn Lamm finished 3rd at 17.11, Maddie Williamson was 7th at 17.63, and Serenity Keomanivong was 12th at 18.41

400 meter hurdles: Maggie Cristoforo finished 1st at 1:06.26, and Karsyn Lamm was 7th at 1:17.18

High Jump: Serenity Keomanivong jumped 4’4”

Long Jump: Lyndi Vantiger was 2nd at 15’11.75”, and Jenna Gilmore was 10th at 13’10”

Shot Put: Lexie Magnani was 1st at 40’7” and Jaden Brumbaugh was 2nd at 37’1.5”

Discus: Alyssa Striegel finished 3rd at 107’7”, Grace Kelley was 4th at 102’2”, and Alyssa Dascher was 12th at 77’7”

4×100 meter relay: Mt Pleasant was 6th at 54.14

4×200 meter relay: Mt Pleasant was 7th at 1:57.76

4×400 meter relay: Mt Pleasant was 3rd at 4:38.27

4×800 meter relay: Mt Pleasant was 2nd at 11:14.12

Sprint Medley: Mt Pleasant was 1st at 1:55.91

Distance Medley: Mt Pleasant was 1st at 4:29.36

4×100 meter shuttle hurdle: Mt Pleasant was 2nd at 1:11.06

 

 

Mt Pleasant boys golf played in the Nike Invitational being hosted by Notre Dame/West Burlington over at the Burlington Golf Club. Panthers won with a team score of 326 strokes, Oskaloosa was 2nd at 347, Van Buren was 3rd at 358, Notre Dame/West Burlington tied for 4th with Winfield-Mt Union at 362, Fort Madison was 6th at 374, and Central Lee was 7th at 415. Matt Briggs of NBWB was the medalist with a score of 73. For Mt Pleasant Trace White led the team with a 75, Jake Moffett and Bailey Shelledy both shot 81, Rhett Zeglen had 89, Brevin Wilson was at 93, and Reece Kempker shot 117.

Boys golf has a varsity triangular with Fort Madison and Washington at Sheaffer Memorial Golf Course at 4pm

Varsity boys soccer will host Keokuk at 4:30pm, JV game at 6pm

Varsity girls tennis plays at Fairfield at 4:30pm

Varsity boys tennis hosts Fairfield at 4:30pm

Boys track will be hosting the Denny White Relays at the Mapleleaf Athletic Complex at 4:30pm. Teams competing include Cardinal, Centerville, Central Lee, Clear Creek-Amana, Danville, Fairfield, Fort Madison, Iowa City Liberty, Keokuk, Lone Tree, Louisa-Muscatine, Mediapolis, New London, Pekin, Van Buren, Waco, Wapello, Washington, West Burlington-Notre Dame, and Winfield-Mt Union

Varsity girls soccer will play at Keokuk at 5pm, JV game at 7pm

Friday:

Boys middle school track has a meet at Burlington High School against Burlington, Fairfield, and Keokuk at 4:30pm

 

Tomorrow the Denny White Relays will be taking place in the Mapleleaf Athletic Complex. Mike Jay, voted as the “National Track & Field Announcer of the Year” will again be making the calls. Jay announces some of the biggest track events including the Drake Relays, US Olympic Trials, Iowa high school state meet, NCAA track & field championships, and much more.

 

Iowa Wesleyan women’s golf is heading to Indianola Iowa today to compete in the Simpson Invitational taking place at the Indianola Country Club. Tigers will be teeing off around 10am this morning.

Iowa Wesleyan baseball is at home for a conference double header today against the Blackburn Beavers. Tigers are 4-18-1 overall and 2-8 in conference games while the Beavers are 2-18 overall and 0-6 in conference. First game will start at 1pm at the Mapleleaf Athletic Complex.

Iowa Wesleyan softball is heading down to St Louis to play Webster University in a conference double header. Tigers are 15-6 overall and 6-2 in conference while the Gorloks are 6-18 overall and 3-7 in conference. First game will start at 4pm this afternoon.

 

 

University of Northern Iowa national championship wrestler Drew Foster was named the Big 12 Conference Wrestler of the Year. The former Mediapolis Bulldog won the 184 pound championship back on March 23rd, the first championship for UNI since 2000. Foster had a 5-2 record this season in Big 12 duals and a 10-2 career record in Big 12 duals. He also recorded 10 wins over top 20 opponents including four over top ten opponents this past season. Foster ended the season 28-5 and a career record of 95-35.

 

 

Iowa Wesleyan athletic department has named Morgan Christner as the March Student Athlete of the Month. The former New London Tiger had a great month hitting .453 with a .492 on base percentage, and a .566 slugging percentage. She led the team with 18 RBIs and 24 hits. In the circle she leads the SLIAC with seven wins and 90 strikeouts, she pitched 56.2 innings. Christner was the SLIAC Pitcher of the Week earlier this season after her spring break performance in South Carolina where she won two games over Centenary College and Immaculata University with 12 strikeouts in each game. Christner will be the guest on Tiger Nation tomorrow.

 

Nebraska Cornhusker volleyball standout and former Holy Trinity Catholic Crusader Mikaela Foecke was named the Nebraska female student-athlete of the year and best female athlete of the year. Foecke becomes the 8th volleyball player to receive the top female athlete honor. She led Nebraska to four Final Fours and two national championships while also excelling in the classroom. Foecke is a four time Academic All-Big Ten selection and will graduate in May with a degree in animal science/pre-veterinary science.

 

Simpson College women’s golfer and former Mt. Pleasant Panther golfer Haley Booton, went 3-0 in the Battle at Bos Landen, a two-day golfing event that was held in Pella this past Sunday and Monday with Central College and Luther College also competing.  Haley won two matches against Central and a match against a Luther golfer.  .

 

On April 20th there is going to be a 3 on 3 basketball tournament taking place at Mt Pleasant Middle School. There are several age groups for male and female teams to compete in.
