The Mt. Pleasant Panther girls varsity basketball team went on the road Saturday to battle the #1 ranked, undefeated Class 3A power Mediapolis Bullettes.  MPHS put up a good fight but fell 68-58.  Mepo led 16-14 at the end of the 1st quarter, 29-26 at half and 48-40 going into the final quarter.  M.P. was led in scoring by Kelsi Phipps with 14 and Natalie Ita with 13 points.  Mediapolis was led by Andrea Larson with 21 and Darby Massner with 18, 12 of those points being from 3 point range.  Mt. Pleasant is now 8-3 overall and will host Cedar Rapids Prairie Tuesday night in nonconference play.
Mt. Pleasant won the JV game 51-44.

The Mt. Pleasant girls varsity basketball team picked up a big home win Friday night over conference leader Fairfield 58-48. Natalie Ita had 14 points, Kelsi Phipps and Shelby Allender had 13.

The Panthers JV Girls beat Fairfield 47-29. The offense was led by Ally Davis as she dropped in 17 points as well as grabbing 9 rebounds.

The Iowa Wesleyan women’s basketball team defeated Principia College on the road Saturday in SLIAC Conference action 77-53.  Karla Vietinghoff scored 32 points as she dropped in 10 3-point field goals, Lauren Grubb scored 11 and Rachel Williams added 10.

Next game is Saturday against Greenville College on the road.

The Tiger men fell to Principia 69-64, leading the Wesleyan scoring was Chris Fowler and Dion Lightner each with 14 points.  Tiers are now 6-8 overall and 3-6 in the SLIAC Conference, they play at Lincoln Christian College tomorrow night.

 

In high school bowling action Saturday, defending State Champion Keokuk defeat the Mt. Pleasant Panthers girls at Iris Bowling Center 2773 to 2528.  High roller for the Panthers was Maddie Kirschner with a 363. 

The Panther boys won over the Chiefs 3069 to 2793.  Leading M.P. to the win was Brock Paler with a 449.

 

The Mt. Pleasant High School boy’s varsity basketball team beat Fairfield for the 2nd time this season Friday night winning on the road in the conference 53-45. M.P. led at the end of each quarter led by the scoring of Brady Sartorius with 18 points and Colin Mulford with 11. The 4-7 (2-3) Panthers will travel to Muscatine Tuesday.

Mt. Pleasant fell in the freshman game 52-42, Damion Lorenzo had 12 points and Jake Lowe scored 10. In the JV game Mt. Pleasant won 44-32, Brock Wilson led the way with 14 and Alex Carrasco scored 11.
