Southeast Iowa Youth Invited to ISU STEM Trip

Southeast Iowa youth will have an opportunity this spring to explore Science, Engineering, Technology, and Math by attending the Iowa State University Extension and Outreach STEM Trip to Ames, Iowa. The trip is scheduled for Thursday, March 12, 2015, and is open to all 6th through 8th graders in Des Moines, Henry, Lee, and Louisa counties.

During this one-day adventure, youth will participate in hands on laboratory experiences and bioethics activities, as well as learn the latest engineering innovations. The trip will include a visit to the Iowa State University College of Engineering and hands on activities at the Biotechnology Outreach Education Center located on campus.

The cost for this one day adventure including transportation, hands on activities, and one meal is $45.00 for 4-H members and $60.00 for non 4-H members. Non 4-H members will need to complete a Medical Release form and Iowa Code of Ethics form prior to departure. The registration deadline is February 23, 2015, with limited space available.

The bus will make two pick up/drop off stops: one from Southeastern Community College at 6:15 a.m. and one from Wal-Mart in Mount Pleasant at 6:45 a.m., with a return time of approximately 8:30 p.m. in Mount Pleasant and 9:00 p.m. in Burlington.
