The Southeast Iowa Band, under the direction of Robert McConnell, will present an hour long concert this Sunday evening March 8th at 7:30 at the First United Methodist church in downtown Burlington. (421 Washington Street). The concert is free. This will be the Iowa Wesleyan based band’s first appearance in Burlington in many years.

The historic 1889 church, beautifully restored after an arson fire gutted it in 2007, is a visually and acoustically beautiful venue with stunning windows and woodwork.

The band membership, 50 performers, is made up of many of the finest wind/percussionists in SE Iowa. The program features a performance of the famed Cornet solo Carnival of Venice but in an unusual twist the soloist, Luke Miller performs on Tuba.

Additional works include Gustav Holst’s Second Suite, music from Church Windows of Ottorino Respighi, Chicago Tribune march and a variety of other works.
