Snow Emergency in Washington

Due to the impending winter storm expected today the City of Washington is issuing a snow emergency running from 5:00 P.M. today through 5:00 P.M. Tuesday January 6th. A winter storm warning is in effect for Washington County from 3:00 P.M. this afternoon until 3:00 A.M. Tuesday. Snow accumulations of 5 to 8 inches are likely with the heaviest snowfall forecasted for 5:00 – 8:00 P.M. this evening.
Persons should not park, abandon or leave unattended any vehicle on any public street, alley or city-owned or leased off-street parking area during any snow emergency proclaimed by the City of Washington unless the snow has been removed or plowed from said street, alley or parking area and the snow has ceased to fall. During severe winter weather citizens are also urged not to travel unless absolutely necessary. Travel only in an emergency and take a winter survival kit. An additional release will be issued when the snow emergency has been lifted.
