Sherry Dee Hamilton,

Sherry Dee Hamilton, 68, of The Madison, formerly of Denmark and West Point, passed away at 11:05 p.m. Monday, October 17, 2016 at The Madison.

Born July 6, 1948 in Mount Pleasant, Iowa the daughter of Harry and Doris (Dawdy) Sanderson. On December 3, 1967 she married Norman Hamilton in Farmington, Iowa. They later divorced.

Survivors include one son, Michael (Korkee) Hamilton of West Point, Iowa; one daughter, Kathleen (Greg) Cowell of Johnston, Iowa; three grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; and 2 step-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are five sisters, Linda Daughters of Keokuk, Iowa, Sandra Sanderson of Keokuk, Iowa, Bonnie Hernandez of Waukee, Iowa, Sue Sanderson of Donnellson, Iowa, and Jayne Courtney of Westminster, Colorado; two brothers, Terriray Paul Sanderson of Fort Madison, Iowa and Jay Sanderson of Keokuk, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, John and Gerry.

She enjoyed cooking, baking pies, and bowling.

Cremation has been entrusted to Schmitz Funeral Home.

Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, October 21, 2016 at the Sharon Cemetery in rural Farmington with Pastor Mary Ann Welch officiating.

A memorial has been established in her memory.
