School Board Special Meeting

Mount Pleasant Community School District School Board will hold a special meeting, June 29 at 6:30 pm in the Central Office. At a recent work session the board discussed which direction to take in replacing Supt. Mike Wells who recently resigned. A consultant from Great Prairie Area Education Agency helped facilitate the work session and will continue to assist with the process of finding a new administrator. The board members agreed that, in the interest of time and money, hiring an interim superintendent would be a good plan. It also appears the board will decide to choose that individual and not hire a search company. At the Monday meeting the board hopes to receive from the A.E.A.a list of potential candidates. The board would like to have someone in place by the end of July but in the meantime the district needs a “Superintendent of Record.” One will be appointed at the Special Meeting. From the discussion at the work session it appears this will be the A.E.A Chief Administrator, Dr. Jon Sheldahl, who facilitated the work session. Also, during the June 29 Special Meeting the board will be asked to approve the MPEA contract, the AFSME contract and the non-certified salaries for 2015-16.
