School Board Moves Lighting Project ForwardWritten by Theresa Rose on June 22, 2016
The Mt. Pleasant School Board met in special session Tuesday to move the Mapleleaf lighting project forward. No one attended the public hearing to voice comments one way or the other. The board first voted to accept a $100,000 restricted donation for the project from the athletic boosters. The next step was passage of a resolution to take action on the project. The board then examined and accepted the one bid received for the project in the amount of $210,600 from Mohrfeld Electric. Since the boosters asked the school district for $100,000, board president Dave McCoid expressed concern about who would be responsible for the remaining $10,600. Athletic Director Scott Lamm was called and assured the board the boosters would cover it. The work is expected to start July 6 and be completed by August 17, in time for the start of the fall sports season.
