School Board Making Progress in Supt Search

Written by Theresa Rose on January 5, 2016

The Mt. Pleasant School Board worked three hours Monday night moving the superintendent search process forward. The board was able to cut the list of 12 applicants down to 5. However, the board isn’t quite ready to say who those five are. According to interim supt Dr. John Roederer, the board would prefer to have three candidates going into interviews. Dr. Roederer needs to make some follow-up phone calls before January 11. The board hopes to announce their top three choices during that regular board meeting. During last night’s closed session the board also discussed the interview schedule. The directors are considering bringing each candidate for an afternoon and evening January 25, 26, and 27. There would possibly be a tour of the town and dinner with the school board in addition to the interviews with each stakeholder group. Dr. Roederer hopes to meet with those groups January 13 to discuss interview questions. He also hopes the board can meet in special session January 29 to get input from a representative from each group.
