West Burlington, IA- Southeastern Community College’s (SCC) automotive training program has received accreditation in Master Automobile Service Technology by NATEF and The National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE).

To achieve this coveted recognition, SCC’s automotive training program underwent rigorous evaluation by the National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation (NATEF). When appraising the program, NATEF reviewers measured their accreditation based on nationally accepted standards of excellence in areas such as instruction, facilities, and equipment.

NATEF Chair, Donald Seyfer, says the accreditation ensures that SCC’s graduates will be employable, entry-level technicians.

“This is great news for automotive-minded young people and their parents,” says Seyfer. “The accreditation strengthens the relationship between SCC’s auto program and industry leaders.”

Upon completion of the evaluation, NATEF recommended that SCC be accredited by ASE. ASE is a national non-profit organization which tests and certifies repair technicians, in addition to accrediting automotive training programs.

SCC Automotive Instructor Wes Carpenter says the accreditation ensures that auto program students receive up to date and top-notch instruction.

“We’ve worked closely with NATEF to make sure our program meets strict industry standards, says Carpenter, “Our students receive a great education at SCC and move on to become high quality technicians.”
