The Iowa Wesleyan football team traveled to the University of Northwestern for an Upper Midwest Athletic Conference match up.  UNW proved to be too much for the Tigers to handle, easily defeating Iowa Wesleyan 57-7 on their homecoming.  The Tigers hurt themselves with turnovers during the game, fumbling twice and throwing two interceptions..  UNW was able to score 38 points off IW turnovers to add to their lead.  Iowa Wesleyan’s only score of the game came in the fourth quarter, Caleb Huss (SR/Pekin, IL) ran the ball in for a five yard touchdown and Nick Fencl (FR/Danville, IA)’s extra point attempt was good. Defensively, Iowa Wesleyan was led by Darryl Smith (JR/Florissant, MO).  Smith had 15 tackles.  Ryan Gerleman (SR/Kewanee, IL) and Andrew Terrell (JR/Jonesboro, GA) each had 9 tackles for IW.  Iowa Wesleyan will have another tough test on the road next weekend. They will face College of Saint Scholastica on October 10th at 1:00 p.m.

Iowa defeated 19th ranked Wisconsin on the road 10-6 to improve their record to 5-0.

Iowa State won  at home over Kansas 38-13.

#4 Illinois State defeated #7 Northern Iowa 21-13

The Mt. Pleasant Panther Marching Band brought home 13 trophies from Saturday’s competition in Monroe City, MO, winning caption awards in every category in every competition, first place in field show, second in parade, first in indoor color guard and first in indoor drumline competitions, plus the fan favorite award.
