Salsa Making Contest August 14

Written by Theresa Rose on August 4, 2015

Who has the best recipe for salsa in Louisa County? That question will be answered on Friday, August 14 at the 11th annual Salsa Contest at the Columbus Junction Farmers Market. The four categories for this year’s contest are pico de gallo (fresh salsa), cooked or canned, pico de gallo featuring one or more roasted ingredients, and cooked or canned with roasted ingredients. Prize money, in the form of Louisa Bucks, will be awarded for first and second places in each category. A traveling trophy will be awarded to the judges’ favorite.

Entry forms are available at the Columbus Junction farmers market and online at www.columbusjunctioniowa.org. All entries are to be delivered to the farmers market by 5:15 on August 14. Judging will begin at 5:20. After the winners are selected all entries will be offered to the public for sampling.
