Rosanna T. “Rosie” Schinstock, 85, of Houghton passed away at 11:20 A.M. Tuesday November 17, 2015 at the West Point Care Center.
Born October 14, 1930 at Fort Madison, Iowa the daughter of Albert and Anna Sallen Stohlmeier.
On November 27, 1954 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Fort Madison, Iowa she married Edward Francis Schinstock. He preceded her in death on April 13, 2014.
Survivors include four sons, Larry (Sue) Schinstock of Salem, Iowa, Dale (Terri) Schinstock of Urbandale, Iowa, Ken Schinstock of Salem, Iowa and Randy (Sharon) Schinstock of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, one daughter Kathy (Wayne) Walljasper of St. Paul, Iowa, seven grandchildren Jennifer Schinstock, Philip (Amanda)Schinstock, Michelle Walljasper, John Walljasper, Michael Schinstock, Colton Schinstock and Ashley Schinstock. Also surviving is her sister: Sister Dorothy Stohlmeier of Clinton, Iowa and many nieces and nephews
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ed and one daughter Joan Margaret.
She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Houghton where she sang in the church choir and the Altar and Rosary Society of the church. She was a graduate of Catholic Central High School in Fort Madison, following graduation she worked for the Sheaffer Pen Company. Rosie enjoyed playing euchre, bingo, traveling, gardening, visiting with neighbors and friends and her grandchildren.
Friends may call after 2:30 p.m. Thursday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Houghton where there will be a Rosary recited at 3:00 p.m. and a Christian wake service at 7:00 p.m. The family will meet with friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the church.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday November 20, 2015 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Houghton with Father Bruce DeRammelaere as celebrant. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery in Houghton
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St John’s Catholic Church or Lee County Hospice.
