Richard C. Mitchell, 87, of, the Klein Center in West Burlington, Iowa, formerly of Denmark, Iowa, passed away at 9:36 a.m. Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at the Klein Center.
Born July 1, 1927 in Fort Madison, Iowa the son of Charles Ceylon and Beatrice Irene (Green) Mitchell. On February 17, 1975 he married Norma Grace in Las Vegas, Nevada. She preceded him in death on June 28, 2003.
Survivors include two daughters Pam (Jack) Delph of Mohave Valley, Arizona and Wendy Mullen of Arizona, one son Charles Mitchell of Ponca City, Oklahoma, one brother Wesley (Toby) Mitchell of Littleton, Colorado and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Norma and one son Kimball Mitchell.
Richard was a draftsman for DuPont and General Electric. He served in the Armed Forces as a Merchant Marine during the Korean War Period and was a member of the West Point Holtz-Geers American Legion Post #668. Richard enjoyed fishing, living in the country and visiting with friends.
Friends may call after 9:00 a.m. Monday, January 12, 2015 at the Schmitz-Lynk Funeral Home in West Point, Iowa where the family will meet with friends from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, January 12, 2015 at the Denmark Cemetery, in Denmark, Iowa with a flag presentation by the West Point Holtz-Geers American Legion Post #668.
