Randy Thomas Faeth

Randy Thomas Faeth, 55, of Fort Madison, Iowa, passed away at 8:25 a.m. Sunday, August 2, 2015 at the Fort Madison Community Hospital emergency room in Fort Madison, Iowa.

Born January 7, 1960 in Des Moines, Iowa the son of William and Sherry (Hull) Faeth III. On November 5, 1983 he married Tina Merschman in West Point, Iowa.

Survivors include his wife Tina of Fort Madison, Iowa; two sons Lucas (Jennifer Hatter) Faeth of West Des Moines, Iowa and Marcus (Katie) Faeth of Marion, Iowa; his parents William & Sherry Faeth III of Fort Madison, Iowa; two sisters Rhonda Faeth of Fort Madison, Iowa and Becky (John) Meinhardt of Donnellson, Iowa; one brother Rob (Janet) Faeth of Fort Madison, Iowa; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, mother-in-law Erma Jean Merschman and father-in-law Delbert Merschman.

Randy was a 1978 graduate of Fort Madison High School and a 1980 graduate of Southeastern Community College. He worked for J.M. Swank as an over the road truck driver. He was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ in Fort Madison, Iowa, a Boy Scouts Leader, Eagle Scout Scoutmaster, member of The Order of Arrow and a National Rifle Association member. Randy sang for many weddings and funerals. He enjoyed singing karaoke, hunting, fishing, riding his motorcycle, playing with his dogs Ozzie and Charlie and he loved his family and friends.

Friends may call after 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 5, 2015 at the Schmitz-Lynk Funeral Home in West Point, Iowa where the family will receive friends from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. that evening. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, August 6, 2015 at St. John’s United Church of Christ in Fort Madison, Iowa with Chaplain Jim Luder officiating.

Burial will be at the Oakland Cemetery in Fort Madison, Iowa.

In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in his memory to St. John’s United Church of Christ.
