Pauline E. Fedler

Pauline E. Fedler, 90, of rural West Point, passed away at 7:10 P.M. Thursday, August 11, 2016 at the West Point Care Center,

Born February 26, 1926 near St. Paul, Iowa the daughter of Herman and Bernadine Mueller Dingman. On April 15, 1947 in St. Paul, Iowa she married James J. Fedler. He preceded her in death on April 14, 1988.

Survivors include one son, Larry Fedler of West Point, Iowa, two daughters Mary Lynn (Ken) Panther of West Point, Iowa and Joan (Harold) Holtkamp of Salem, Iowa. Also surviving are four grandchildren: Heidi (Brian) Kanealy of Cedar Rapids, Ed (Jen) Panther of North Liberty, Karen (Alex) Mason of Ottumwa, and Jeff (Abby) Holtkamp of Swisher. Six great grandchildren: Emma and Jillian Panther, Gabriel and Meredith Mason and Kaydence and Penelope Holtkamp. One sister Bertha Witte of St. Paul, Iowa and two sisters-in-law  Lorene Fedler of West Point and Lillian Fedler of Cedar Falls, Iowa. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband, three brothers: Adolph, Ernest and Andrew Dingman and two sisters Adelaide Dingman and Barbara Kruse.

Pauline was a member of St. Mary’s of the Assumption Catholic Church in West Point. She was a member of and held many offices in the Altar and Rosary Society, the St. Ann’s Circle Daughters of Isabella and the American Legion Auxiliary. Pauline was a lifelong resident of the area. She was a homemaker and worked as a bookkeeper for Merschman Furniture for many years. Spending time with family was very important to Pauline as well as playing cards with friends and neighbors, especially her “Boots and Umbrellas” card club for over 50 years. She was also a 4-H leader for many years. Quilting, needlework, baking, refinishing furniture and sewing were her favorite hobbies over the years.

Friends may call after Noon Monday at the Schmitz Funeral Home in West Point. There will be a Daughters of Isabella Rosary recited at 3:00 P.M. The family will meet with friends from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. with a Christian Wake Service at 7:00 P.M. all at the funeral home.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at St. Mary’s of the Assumption Catholic Church in West Point with Fr. Dennis Hoffman as Celebrant. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in West Point. A luncheon will follow at the West Point American Legion.
