Following an investigation by the Iowa Attorney General’s office, two Ft. Madison police officers have been cleared in the fatal shooting of a bank robber. Special assistant Attorney General Scott Brown ruled the death of Lafayette Evans as justifiable homicide. Evans was shot and killed by officers David Doyle and Cory Brown when he tried to run after robbing a Ft. Madison bank on June 29. The AG’s opinion also said Evans fled the bank with $224,320 in cash and the search continue for at least one accomplice.
