New Mens BB coach at ISU

Murray State’s Steve Prohm has been hired to replace Fred Hoiberg at Iowa State as the school’s men’s basketball coach according to published reports by ESPN.com and CBSsports.com.Prohm was 104-29 in four seasons at Murray State of the Ohio Valley Conference, and 54-10 in the conference. He took the first of those teams to NCAA tournaments and won a game in the tourney. Last season’s Racers went 16-0 in the OVC, but lost in the final of the conference tourney and were denied an NCAA at-large berth.

Prohm replaces Hoiberg, who was named the coach of the NBA’s Chicago Bulls last week.

Prohm is a graduate of the University of Alabama. He was a student-assistant for Alabama’s men’s basketball program. He was an assistant coach at Centenary for two years, an assistant at Southeastern Louisiana for five years, an assistant at Tulane for one year, and an assistant at Murray State for five before being promoted to replace Billy Kennedy, who left for Texas A&M.
