Mt. Pleasant Farmland Leasing Meeting Scheduled for August 10

Mt. Pleasant, Iowa ― ISU Extension and Outreach is conducting farmland leasing meetings in 12 different sites across Southeast Iowa during the month of August. The Mt. Pleasant meeting site will be Wednesday, August 10, beginning at 6:30 pm. Doors of the Henry County Extension office, located at 127 North Main Street, will open at 6 pm. The meeting will last approximately three hours and will be facilitated by Charles Brown, Farm Business Management Specialist with ISU Extension and Outreach.

 

Topics include: cash rental rates, land values, writing and terminating a farm lease and determining a fair cash rent, landlord/tenant communications, production costs and economic outlook.

 

“These meetings are designed to help landowners, tenants and other agri-business professionals with current issues related to farmland ownership, management, and leasing agreements,” said Charles Brown, Farm Business Management Specialist with ISU Extension and Outreach.

 

Pre-registration is required at least two days prior to the meeting and a $25 per individual or $35 per couple fee is payable at the door. Participants will receive a 100-page booklet and meeting handouts designed to assist landowners, tenants and other agri-business professionals with issues related to farmland ownership, management and leasing arrangements.
