More from the MP School Board Meeting

The Mt. Pleasant School Board made some financial decisions at the meeting last night…it was not a unanimous vote but the board went with a bid from Weiler Builders to install a metal roof on the Mapleleaf Field House in the amount of $16,500 plus an additional amount of $1,400 for the textured finish to reduce glare and the board asked for the ticket booth to be done as well.  That dollar figure was not available last night.  Board members Carl Braun and Dave McCoid were not in favor of the metal roof.  The board also agreed to a $15,000 contract with School Nutrition Services.  This company will assist the school food service program.  The three individuals who took over the program operation after the director resigned last year expressed the desire to continue with these duties but requested some administrative help.  School Nutrition Services can do this for less than the cost of hiring an individual.

In other business, the school board approved the 28E agreement with Younghouse Family Services and Christamore Family Treatment Center.  Approval was given for a gift of a Buddy Bench to be placed at Harlan School. And Elementary Principal Lori LaFrenz reported on summer school.  She noted that attendance has dropped from week to week.
