Mount Pleasant, Iowa: January 11, 2019 – Iowa Wesleyan University will host the annual MLK Celebration on January 22, 2019 at 7:00 pm in University Chapel with Empowerment Network president Willie Barney giving the keynote.
Barney, leads the Empowerment Network group to collectively improve the quality of life for African-Americans. For over 22 years, Barney has worked in media, strategic planning, marketing, advertising, communications, community building, and facilitation. He is also president of SMB Enterprises in Omaha, NE. SMB Enterprises is the parent company of Revive! Omaha Magazine and Revive! Twin-Cities Magazine.
“We are excited to welcome Willie Barney to campus to share his insight in improving our world through race relations,” said DeWayne Frazier, provost of Iowa Wesleyan University. “His background in advanced leadership training and his passion to work together with others in the community to reach their full potential will rivet audiences in our celebration together.”
