Mary Lou Nollen

Mary Lou Nollen, age 85 of Mediapolis, died Monday March 30, 2015 at Prairie Ridge Care Center in Mediapolis. The daughter of Benjamin and Minnie (Long) Holm, she was born July 20, 1929 at Burlington. On August 6, 1950 she married Carl Nollen at Mediapolis; he died March 18, 1987. She attended Amity School through the 8th grade. She was a 1947 graduate of the Mediapolis High School and was valedictorian. She worked as a secretary for Benner Tea in Burlington, IAAP, and other various businesses. She also helped with operating Nollens Grocery in Morning Sun. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Mediapolis. She also was a member of the American Legion Auxillary, Sunshine Club, United Methodist Women, and served on the care review committee at Prairie Ridge for many years.

She is survived by: three sons, Dennis Nollen of Wilmington, Delaware; David Nollen of Mediapolis; Duane Nollen of Oskaloosa; one daughter, Diana Nollen of Cedar Rapids; five grandchildren and six great grandchildren;

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one sister and an infant brother.

The funeral service will be Tuesday April 7, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Mediapolis, with Rev. Jeff Kodis officiating. Interment will follow at the Kossuth Cemetery in Mediapolis. Friends may call on Monday from 2-7:00 p.m. at the Hagele and Honts Funeral Home in Mediapolis, where the family will meet with friends from 5-7:00 p.m. Memorials have been established for the Prairie Ridge Care Center and the First United Methodist Church.
