Martin O’Malley in Mt. Pleasant Saturday, September 26Written by Theresa Rose on September 21, 2015
Henry County, Iowa, September 20, 2015: Presidential candidate Martin O’Malley will be in Mt. Pleasant this coming Saturday, September 26, 2015, to attend the Henry County Democrats Harvest Rally. The event will take place at Museum B, Old Threshers Grounds, from 4-6 p.m.
Mary Hoyer, Chair of Henry County Democrats commented “At a time when frustration with the government and with Congress is at an all-time high, it is wonderful to have someone with O’Malley’s experience in the race.”
Governor O’Malley, described as “the best manager working in government today”, ended his second term as Governor of Maryland in January of this year. Under his leadership, median income in Maryland grew to be the highest in the country, tuition cost at state colleges and universities was held down, and the Maryland public school system moved up from third place in 2008 to rank first in the nation for five years running.
Hoyer added, “This is government at its best – working to create a thriving economy, efficient and effective government, while also making the investments in education, the environment, and infra-structure needed to maintain that performance in the future.”
In addition to O’Malley, representatives from the Clinton and from the Sanders campaigns will also be attending. Speakers will also include Congressman Dave Loebsack, and all three Democratic candidates for the U.S. Senate.
Tickets for the Harvest Rally are $15.00; a picnic supper will be served, with music provided by the Burnt Grass Band. A limited number of discounted tickets for students are available.
