Marlene J. Townsend, 76, of Farmington, Iowa passed away at 2:35 p.m. Thursday, May 14, 2015 at the Clark County Nursing Home in Kahoka, Missouri.
Born June 14, 1938 in Colona, Illinois the daughter of Albert and Ruth Menzenberg. On March 20, 1964 she married Truman Schmidt. He preceded her in death on December 12, 1995. On August 22, 1998 she married Harry Townsend in Farmington, Iowa.
Survivors include her husband Harry of Farmington, Iowa; two step-sons Rick (Tammy) Townsend of Farmington, Iowa and Randy (Debbie) Townsend of Fort Madison, Iowa; one step-granddaughter Brittany Townsend; one step-grandson Matthew Townsend; two brothers Marvin Menzenberg of Sioux City, Iowa and Norman (Janet) Menzenberg of Stonghurst, Illlinois; two nieces Christine (Eric) Johnson and Becky (Scott) Aman; and one nephew Matthew (Debbie) Menzenberg.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband Truman and one brother Allen.
Marlene was a member of the Assembly of God Church. She worked as a nurses aid in Dubuque, Iowa, she then worked for Collins Radio, Amana at Wallen Mills, the I-80 Holiday Inn near Williamsburg and the University of Iowa Dental Clinic. She enjoyed gardening, mowing the yard and going to church.
Friends may call after 12:00 noon Monday, May 18, 2015 at the Schmitz-Lynk Funeral Home in Farmington, Iowa. The family will receive friends form 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. that afternoon.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, May 18, 2015 at the Schmitz-Lynk Funeral Home in Farmington with Pastor Andy Bunnell officiating.
Burial will be at the Greenglade Cemetery.
A memorial has been established in her memory.
